Welcome to Trinocular Microscope
Welcome to the internet store for trinocular microscope equipment. We are glad you came to visit us and read all about microscopes with trinocular photography ports. Let’s begin with a basic explanation of what we mean by a trinocular microscope. First, we all know that mono means one, bi means two, and tri means three.
Then, from microscopy terms, we know that ocular refers to the eyepiece opening or viewing tube. This part on a microscope is where we look into it. A monocular microscope has a single viewing ocular tube with a single eyepiece to pick up and magnify the microscopic image. A binocular has two viewing eyeports, and is more easy to use as it corresponds to humans having two eyes. A trinocular port on a microscope is the third port. It is used for microphotography and video applications.
This port is where cameras are attached, so the viewing port for the human eyes is left open for viewing the specimen. This dedicated port is typically located on the top of the microscope head. However, on some models, it can be located horizontal and off to the side.
Different styles of microscopes may have different arrangements of the trinocular photography port. Refer to your specific microscope manual for instructions on how to operate this port. Typically there is a lever that is pulled out to allow light to go to the trinocular microscope’s port. Sometimes, it is a split image, allowing still some of the illumination from the microscopic specimen to reach the viewing eyepiece at the same time. On some microscope models, the trinocular port lever being engages will totally block light from one of the oculars.
So in summary, a trinocular microscope is a typical microscope that has two viewing eyeppieces with a third port for capturing photos or video.
